Burren Smokehouse Salmon Smoking master class experience

High praise

In June 2026, Oksana Osiniene shared her experience on Google about her visit to the Burren Smokehouse. We could not fit all of this onto our Review page, so we decided to give it pride of place here! Oksana and her family enjoyed a visit to the interactive “Taste the Atlantic – Salmon Experience” which also includes a presentaton on salmon smoking and a tasting.

She wrote, “The Burren Smokehouse turned out to be one of the most memorable stops of our trip to County Clare and, surprisingly, it became my daughter’s favourite attraction in the entire county!

What makes this place special is not just the award-winning smoked salmon, but the people who bring its story to life. We were incredibly lucky to have Emily as our guide. Originally from France, she was absolutely fantastic. Her enthusiasm, knowledge, and warmth made the experience truly engaging for both adults and children.

What impressed us most was how she shared the history of the smokehouse, the story of the owners, and the fascinating journey of salmon as if she were talking about her own family. That level of passion is rare to find. By the end of the tour, we felt connected not only to the product but also to the people behind it.

The stories about Irish traditions, the Salmon of Knowledge legend, and the family’s dedication to preserving traditional smoking methods transformed what could have been a simple food stop into a memorable cultural experience.

Helpful tips for visitors:
• Don’t rush through the visitor centre – take time to listen to the stories.
• If Emily is your guide, you’re in for a treat.
• Even if you’re not a huge fan of salmon, the storytelling and history make the visit worthwhile.
• The experience is excellent for families and surprisingly engaging for children.
• Allow time to browse the shop and sample some of the products.
• Combine your visit with a trip to the Burren or Doolin for a perfect day out.

We originally expected to spend a short time here, but ended up staying much longer because we were genuinely fascinated. A wonderful family-run business, passionate staff, and an experience that combines food, history, culture, and storytelling. Highly recommended.”

We are absolutely delighted to have contributed to a family’s holiday bliss, and we hope that the rest of their stay in County Clare was as excellent as their visit to the Burren Smokehouse!
