Meet the Makers – VIP Experience

This cultural ultraluxe experience is a must for those interested in the arts of smoking and brewing.

The owners of the Burren Smokehouse and the Roadside Tavern offer a Meet the Maker – VIP Experience to show a very limited amount of visitors around in their smokehouse.

The visit starts with Birgitta Hedin-Curtin who will take you on a behind-the-scenes visit of the Smokehouse itself. She will explain how we smoke the Irish Organic Salmon. Get a good look into the bespoke kiln and the smoke box in the nerve centre of the operation. You will also see the production and dispatch areas.

The next part of the VIP visit brings you to the Roadside Tavern (est. 1865) just a few metres up from the Burren Smokehouse. The pub is the home of the Burren Brewery which was mentioned in the Lonely Planet “Global Craft Beer Guide” as one of only three Irish Craft Breweries.

A tasting of three unique craft beers from the Burren Brewery will accompany the Burren Smoked Irish Organic Salmon tasting platter. Among others, Master Brewer Peter Curtin will tell you the fascinating story of how he captured the wild yeast in the Burren for the ‘Euphoria’ gruit beer.

This is an opportunity to immerse yourself into the heart of a story by meeting the people personally involved with the history of this destination.
