You might have seen us using the phrase “Walk in the foot steps of royalties” when reading about visiting the Burren Smokehouse. What do we mean by that?
On the 24th May 2019, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden honoured the Burren Smokehouse with a visit! Organised by Bord Bía, the Irish marketing organisation for the food and drinks industry, the royal couple met local food producers of the Burren area like the owners of Anam Coffe and the St. Tola Goats Cheese Farm.
The King and Queen of Sweden enjoyed a good tasting of our Burren Smoked Irish Salmon presented on little canapés. King Gustav even asked for one of the Burren Brewery beers next door!
Irish music and dancing rounded off the visit and gave the couple a good insight into Irish culture and our food!
