Heritage Week events 2026 – “The Burren Smokehouse Story – A traditional Craft and Art of Smoking rooted in Ireland and Sweden” by Birgitta Hedin-Curtin

Birgitta Hedin-Curtin, the co-owner and co-founder of the Burren Smokehouse, will tell the story how she and Lisdoonvarna-born and bred husband Peter Curtin set up the Burren Smokehouse 37 years ago. From very humble beginnings where Birgitta hand-delivered smoked salmon to restaurants in the area to international sales and an award-winning business, you will hear the story first-hand.

After the presentation and a smoked salmon tasting, you will have the opportunity to follow the King of Fish through history in the “Taste the Atlantic – Salmon Experience” next door.
